h-pipe or x-pipe?

i got a 90 gt. my exhaust is full of splices everywhere from me changing things constantly. now i am going to replace the pipe from the headers back to my mufflers. (cats were gone a LONG time ago) im going with 2.5' pipe, and i am wondering if i should go with an h-pipe or an x-pipe. what will work best on my 5.0? when i say "work best" i mean performance wise. any good advice will help. thanx

RE: h-pipe or x-pipe?

the claim is that x pipes have a bit more horsepower gains 3-5 hp more, but in actuallity they are equal in performance, the x pipe is more raspy at high rpms and the h pipe has a deeper tone, checkout magnaflow, flowmaster websites for sound clips, i have bbk off road h pipe and sounds great and has good equal flow. good luck

Its definetly a personal opinion. Like ^ said, an H pipe has a deeper tone, etc. than an X. Also, the rumor is that X pipes make more power on 5.0's but it really depends on your application. I have seen dyno sheets that showed different.

I really would like to switch to a x pipe but i'm worried about it quieting it down alot.

Did anyone switch from a h to an x? How much quieter did it make it?

i personally have a BBK off road H pipe and i like it alot but X pipe wont really quiet it it will just have a different sound. like if you have a complete bassani exaust w/ X pipe it will be ferrari ish but will still sound like a mustang.

The prochamber is definetly nice. BTW, if anyone wants a prochamber for long tube headers let me know! I will sell for CHEAP!!

Pro Chamber is sweet. I have a Bassani X-pipe, which I like too, but unless I'm mistaken Pro chamber "supposedly" gives you a tiny bit more power gain and costs less, or is at least comparable.
