1982 gt
What is everyones opinion on the 1982 gt? I saw an ad in the paper today that said it was stripped but all parts were there and could be put back together. It just said "make offer", thought I might like to have it for a "project car" or is it even worth it?

RE: 1982 gt
If you do build it, MAKE FOR DAMN SURE YOU BRACE IT! The '79-82 models had thinner sheetmetal, so you get a bonus for saving weight, but you lose structural integrity of the car. I had a '79 mustang Ghia sport, basically looked like all the rest of the 79 stangs except it was a 5.0L 4spd. Anyway, I built it up to right around 300hp (2500lbs w/ me in it), after a while I stated hearing creaking from the rear of the car, I checked all the rear suspension, it looked fine, so one day a friend and I were racing I slammed 2nd and literally ripped the rear axle off of the car, lower control arms attached to the torque boxes and all.
So heres what I recommend you do to it, first of subframe connectors, second reinforce the rear torque boxes and the floor sheetmetal around em, and at bare minimum a 4pt roll cage. Then you should have a GOOD reliable frame to put a high HP motor into and youll have an advantage cuz even with all the extra metal youll add to it itll still be at least 500lbs lighter than 83 or newer fox bodies.
