aod is acting up

i just bought this 89 model LX today, the aod transmission jumps when you first take off, then it shifts out fine
you can give it some gas and it starts to take off then it jumps like its jumping in and out of gear
any thoughts on what that might be?

oh ya i forgot to post this...... it seemed to be about 2 quarts over full on fluid too
i know this doesnt sound good, unless the people before i had it, just over filled it
