Default First mustang today. Tranny issues?

I bought my first mustang today. its a bit older but has new motor and newer tranny and clutch 1500kms or so on tranny.

Any ways I think i need to adjust the clutch, although i dunno how yet. I get movement right off the floor, no play really.

and reverse, it pops out after i start moving. it goes in fine, i move a few feet and pops back. if i ride the clutch it doesnt do it often. but when it complete engages it falls out. and while test driving it i had no reason to put it in reverse so i didnt catch it.

Can someone give me an idea what it could be.
Thanks,

if it is the stock clutch cable and quadrant it is self-adjusting. you might try taking the clutch fork cover off the tranny and checking the clutch cable for play. if its not tight you can usually adjust the nut down a bit to tighten the cable up.

Isn't the stock clutch cable non adjustable, only the quadrant?

the stock quadrant is self-adjusting, so non adjustable. honestly i've never seen a stock cable so... but i think there is a little adjustment available on it at the clutch fork end...could be wrong though.

nope there is no nut on the end of a stock cable, that would of been a good move by ford thoe. your trans sounds like mine, but mine is getting to the point where it pops out of first when trying to take off sometimes. i think its going to die soon.

Since im so green i should b irish about my car i didnt know that the shifter is after market, hurst they believe, stock **** though.
I was talkin to the seller and it is a King Cobra clutch in it. He said theres no more than 3000kms on it @ 192000km as it was done at last inspection and its 195000km.

From what i over heard he said the cable is not stock and something about a quadrant which i dunno what that is.

I have an apt at 8am tomorrow to get it looked at.

1 mechanic and 2 transmission guys didnt know off hand what it was. gonna cost me 60 bux for them to take a quick peek. damn it.

Not sure what the etiquette is with the seller if it costs alot to fix, since i bought it yesterday thinking the tranny was rebuilt and new clutch.

mine pops out when downshifting into 2nd and makes a brief grind noise into 2nd when shifting hard. i say syncros, but reverse does not have a syncro.
