control arms?

control arms?
i'm putting 3.73s into my '95 soon, and i'm wondering if i should do control arms at the same time to control wheel hop and stuff. should i do this now or not worry about it until i get more power? i'm basically stock right now exept for a cold air intake/76mm MAF and an exhaust.
if i do need control arms right now, what should i get? should i get uppers and lowers? just uppers? just lowers? is any one brand better than another? summit makes a kit with a set of upper and lowers fairly cheap, i might do those...any experience with them? any help would be appreciated.

RE: control arms?
Lower's are all you really need.
I recommend MaximumMotorSports L/C's
important to get ones with a spherical bearing on one end.
ones with poly-bushings on both ends are great for controlling
wheel hop but they have binding problems when turning
and can cause serious handleing issues.

RE: control arms?
Get the UPR Drag Arms or Maximum Motorsports ones. I switched from Granatelli's to UPR's and I will never go back.
Control arms are worthless unless you plan one running slicks.
BTW: You dont need power to go fast. I know of Bone Stock 5.0's down to the air filter with gutted interiors, full suspension and slicks running low 13's

RE: control arms?
thanks for the tips guys...are control arms really worthless unless you run slicks? i dont drag my car, its just a street toy (right now anyway, i might auto X it at some point but not anytime soon), so are control arms really necessary? i just wanted to put them on if i was going to get a lot of wheel hop from the 3.73s. I beat the bag out of my car but i dont drag it or anything.

RE: control arms?
not worthless, its the stock rubber bushings in the stock control arms that are the main problem.
they sucked to begine with...... 15years of road use doesnt help them any.
$250 for some quality L/C's is a decent investment in my book

RE: control arms?
Yeah you dont need them only if you have slicks. They help with all around driving and traction no matter what tire you use. The thing is that you will have a much "harsher" ride because they dont give as much. If you use your car for daily driving and an OCASSIONAL trip to the track then get the circular ones that give a bit more then the box shaped ones. The traction will still improve a lot over stock and you will still somewhat tolerate daily driving. Also though you should get new tires which will, I believe, help more with traction then the control arms.

RE: control arms?
The stock upper and lower control arms "tweak" under heavy load(at launch) so you loose tire traction. the upper and lowers help you with that. It doesn't matter if you have bushings in the lower control arms only the uppers. Just make sure for the lowers you have Urethane bushings. DO NOT USE URETHANE FOR THE UPPERS! Get the control arms they will help a lot
