Default speakers

Hi i own a 1986 hatchback gt. I am taking out the stock sound system and putting in new speakers. the speakers don't fit very well in the stock spots on the dash. Where does everyone else put their aftermarket speakers? any input would be great

I have durabrand 3 1/2 inch speakers up front. They were about $6.50 a piece at walmart and sound much better then stock. In the back I have pioner 6x8's that say ford mazda nissan on the box and they bolt right in no problem.
