Default Water temp..

Hi
In my 87 GT

few weeks ago my heater core broke. So I canceled it and rerouted the hose where it comes out from engine

Juste connected the 2 hoses together.

Tonihgt this some tire smoking and the hose poped.

I stoped when seen the temp gauge go up.

Check on side of road and me and my friend found that little hose loose.

So we tighted it and went with another vehicule to get some coolant ( lost like one gallon)

The rad is full now.

Now my temp gauge plays up and down like 1/4 to 3/4 every minute of so.

That would be my termostat going right???????????????

when it leaked, it left air in there and the part with air is getting superheated.
just wait till it cools, and let it idle for a bit without the rad cap on.

might be an air pocket. try "burping" the coolant system by letting the car idle with the radiator cap off. DO THIS WHEN THE CAR IS COLD. start it with the cap off, and wait for it to reach operating temp. let it idle for a while. if it "burps" you will notice the coolant level drop.
