i just bought off of ebay a gauge cluster for my car... it was 40 bucks all together. they said the speedo needed a rebuild. whats up with that? what do i do with it? do i need to buy parts for it? any thoughts?

Well for starters it's not an '88 gauge cluster because Ford didn't start using the 140 speedo in the foxes until '89. Unless of course somebody already swapped it out. I'm thinking you should have found out what you will need before you bought it...good luck anyway. Hope it works out.

Not sure about the speedo rebuild, it's a gauge, don't know how much there is to rebuild. Hope it works, but if not be more careful next time before you buy something.

well i didnt buy it just for the 140... i needed a new tach gauge too... but the speedo makes noise and jumps around, thats all i know, is there no way to fix that? just buy a new spedo gauge? not the whole cluster? and where would i get that? dealer? and that would be alot i bet...

You'll need more info before you can get a reasonable answer on that. If it was clicking and the needle was unsteady, it could just be that the speedo cable needed to be replaced. Only way you will know for sure is when you hook it up and try it yourself.
