PCV Hose

PCV Hose
I have an 88 stang and it's running like sh*t. I found that the hose coming from the bottom of the upper intake to the pcv valve has a plug in it. Where the pcv valve is supposed to be there is also a plug. When I take the plug off of the hose it idles high but it runs better. What do I do to fix this, it's pissing me off. Also why would anyone do this?

RE: PCV Hose
If the pcv hole in the intake is plugged (no air circulation) the engine will run poorly, and have a bunch of other problems. I don't know why someone would block off the pcv system, other than that they were trying to prevent oil from being sucked into the intake. You need to get a pcv valve and grommet, and the little screen element that goes under the valve, and get your pcv system working again. I bet the car will run way better.

RE: PCV Hose
Don't plug off the PCV hose coming out of the valve cover. You'll cause excess pressure to build up in the engine and cause seals to go out.
You can plug the pcv inlet on the intake. Get a PCV breather cap for the valve cover.
