Fuse Problem

Fuse Problem
The fuse that controls my interior dash lights keeps blowing... the first time it blew, i replaced it and it lasted about 6 months, then it blew so i put another one in and it blew right away. then i put a 10 fuse in there (the others were 5) which i had a spare of in my fuse box but nothing in the fuse box is a 10, and that lasted about a month... if anyone knows what could be causing this, let me know, its getting annoying having to replace fuses all the time...

RE: Fuse Problem
Youve got a short under the dash. Keep in mind that when your dash lights are out (the tach, speedo, etc) you also have no taillights, theyre on the same circuit. Do you have an aftermarket headunit? If so Id check the connections to that, make sure theyre crimped taped or however you have em so it doesnt short on any of the underdash metal.

RE: Fuse Problem
probably have to pull your insturment panel out and check the harness for any wires that have insulation rubbed through. or you can be like one of the idiot UTI grads at my work and stick a 25 amp fuse in it. i wouldnt though. you could also get a short finder and use one of those, if you know how. basically just hold it over the wire with a circuit breaker in place of the fuse, and when the fuse should pop, the breaker contacts will open. then the needle on the short finder will move if you found the short.

RE: Fuse Problem
mine was doing this, when I took apart my dash, I accidentally clamped some wires in a wierd spot under my dash. I took it all apart put the wires in a safe spot and the problem magically dissapeared!!!
