so i get challenged to race......
so i get challenged to a race, by this guy that i have been going at it with for the past year and a half. turns out hes going to race me with a 2000 si v-tech and is going to install an edlbrock turbo. thats all i need to hear. i got an '87 5.0, thats completely bone stock exept for a k&n intake filter and flow masters. so i need a big change. i am thinking of swapping out for a lightning engine, seeing as they are 330ci. and 5.4L and uh... o yeah supercharged. and dont know wether to go with a t-5 or t-56 tranny. i dont even know if it will fit together. still dont know if i should go 3:73 or 4:10 in the diff. now i need feed back, i need info, will this application fit or how do i go about fitting a manual trans. on the lightning sc.? because no matter what thats the powerblock i want. ofcourse once i drop in it wont stay stock.

it's going to be cheaper to S/C your car, or say **** the 5.4l just spend about 600 bucks and get nitrous dude. You'd spank his *** like Michael Jackson on little boys. Unless he's built and running VERY high boost. But for the most part, the ricers will talk **** and say that they are going to get this and that but in reality what they bought was a CAI.

That swap sounds sick! I still got yet to see a 5.0 with a lighting motor. I've heard of it but never seen. If you do that swap show us some pics. Also with no doubt you will kill that SI and have fun or kill some LS1's and 03/04 Cobra's.[sm=shootshoot.gif] That swap sounds like it's some hard work and good money but good luck!

im with this guy, ive been lurking a while on here, and finaly registered to reply to this...
i used to run against my friends turbo prelude (97ish) in my 5 speed maxima (95) with just bolt ons. i smoked him every time. and my dads stang with some bolt ons was faster then my maxima, he had a 90 GT 5 speed with a set of pipes and open filter.
i wouldnt really be worried about his car, just drive a good race and your torque will spank him good in the beginning....
BUT. if you wanted mods, id go with a supercharger on your engine. dont waste your time with the lightning motor swap, its a great truck and a great motor, but its much better to stay 5.0 and just put a blower or some spray (or both) on it.
how many miles are on your stangs motor?

with all the money you spend on that you could just put a turbo on your 5.0...or better yet a turbo 351.....but if you want the lightning engine im sure you would need custom motor mounts....and with the manual some people have problems with the clutch cable clearance with the drivers side head/cam cover...and muscle mustang and fast fords magazine i believe did a 5.4 swap into a fox...project frightning ...i would look it up if i were you.... but im sure it could be done...good luck with ti if you go through with it

I think you're getting all worked up over nothing. Put a wet kit on it and hose him down. You are going way overboard trying to stuff a positive displacement modular motor into a fox. You could have a Dart block supercharged stroker for about the same price.
