Default Transmission Slipping?

I was going down the high way cruising along with my friend and i kicked it in going about 70 with overdrive on and when i slammed the pedal down the RPM's shot up to around 4 1/2 and then came down to about 3 1/2 before the car began to accelerate, almost creating a sensation of it slipping then catching.

Could it be? Or am i just being paranoid?

Could be your clutch slipping. How many miles on your car?

It is an automatic. I still think i might be paranoid, because it might not be that bad.

I have 147,000 miles on my car. Ha. Sounds like a lot, but still runs puuurrdddyy. Who says Honda's run forever?

i have a auto to and does it feel like your rpms jump about 100 or 1500 before it kicks down and goes? Does it do it in drive? or any other gears?

Ya this was only when i was driving. It might be the way the ECU is set up im not sure. I just kind of nailed the gas when i was going 70 and it jumped up then came back down before it began to accelerate.

OR maybe it was coming out of overdrive because i believe it does that when you nail the gas.

I dont know, driving around normal tranny feels perfect for a car with 147,000 miles on it. Maybe i should stop nailing the gas and keep it that way?

Nawwwww.

I'm willing to bet that the torque converter is unlocking making the RPMs going up that 500 or so then maybe locking back up and not downshifting.

not necessarily. 3rd gear and overdrive are on the same input shaft that is locked up in the converter so they can't really "unlock" but they bands and clutches in the tranny could be worn letting some slippage take place when it downshifts from OD to 3rd gear. maybe the bands could be adjusted some or it might be normal wear and tear with that many miles on it. as long as the rpms are going sky high, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it!
