450hp is asking a bit much from a naturally asperated motor.
350 is hard enough to acheive, thats over 1hp per cubic inch in a 302. Increasing displacement is about the only way to get 400ish without forced induction.

god you people need to stop reading magazines and believing the crap. You guys are telling me a 302-306 NA is not gonna be a streetable motor and gonna require some serious high end parts? You people crack me up.

a 302 is streetable...
I think he wanted to make 450 hp... im assuming he wants 450 rwhp.... if that's so, then there are easy route to it an harder routes to it... in any case, we're talkin $$$$...

If you pick and choose your parts right a naturally aspirated engine will do great. I know from experience. I have a 351(yes I know, not a 302) with ported factory cast iron 2 barrel heads, dished (13cc) pistons that are .005 inch below deck. Stock rods with ARP rod bolts and a stock crank. It has a flat solid old school custom cam for $140.00 from comp cams and a Parker Racing Funnel web intake with a 750 Holley carb and Heddman Hedders. It has a Promotion Prepped 5spd. The engine makes 9.8 to 1 compression and is stock strock. My best to date on motor is 10.91@125.69 MPH and it wieghs 3250lbs as wieghed on the scales. I have checked out the TCI calculator and the weight vs MPH says I have great all motor power. Yes I know this is a computer generated number and not a dyno number but I am sure it is close. So yes, I believe given my experience the right choice of parts can make the numbers. Also this is not a magazine number but and AFR research and development build. Check out what they came up with.
