since you have an aod, you might have had 3.27's
in the door under "ax" it will be m=2.73 z=3.08 e=3.27
3.73 from a 3.27 is hardly noticible, and it's due to the aod gearing 4.10's only give you another 250 rpm over 3.73's (1000 from 2.73's).....1st gear is 2.40 and w/ 4.10's that would be similar to a 5-speed car starting off in 2nd gear w/ 3.55's (t5 1st is 3.35...total gear is rear X 1st)
but my guess is you had 3.27's and not a huge change, you were already used to having some gear.

problem fixed!!!
some how my header bolts worked themselves loose and ONE IS MISSING !!!!!
They are so hard to put on, with my MAC shorties. EVERY SINGLE HEADER BOLT WAS LOOSE@@!!!!!![:'(][:'(][:'(]
I tightened them(takes an hour) , and am still missing one,
I can be doing 35 mph and floor it, it screams and burns rubber/ hauls azzz!!. I NEEDED THE GEARS TO GET ME IN THOSE UPPER RPM, WHERE MY SETUP MAKES ITS POWER and THAT IS WHERE IM AT and I LOVE THE TORQUE OUTPUT.
I like the power curve in the modular 4.6 engines, but if you hammer my 5.0 it explodes!! very aggressively, I like Pushrod better.
Max rpm? I got her all the way to red, damn near to the end of the tach, and my power is after 3500 rpm.
I floored it and made pass 60 in less than 5 seconds, you know when you have power when your speedo starts to catch up with your odometer:,
My buddy has a 1993 COBRA and rode with me is VERY jealous, he wants more power now.
Since someone tried to steal my car a month ago out of my own driveway!, I have to watch it more than ever, too much jealousy and hatred when you have something like a nice 5.0 gettin alot of attention and chick's eyes.
UPDATE : I BUMBPED TIMING FROM 10 DEGREES TO 19* and the car is starting to lift up in the air- the front end, what can i do about that?????????

well when i installed 4.10s on my stock (aod)geared 91 stang i really couldnt "feel" the major change. i guess i was expecting a dramatic oomph or something by the way people were telling me it would have. i did, however, notice that now my burnouts from dead stop were a LOT more impressive but the real test came when i did my g-tech run. did you see how fast your car ran before the gears? cause what i couldnt really feel...showed itself with a big ET drop.

im sure you can knoc off .5 sec easily with the 4:10 more with a powerful engine/

run during mid day...around 1:30pm, hot dry temp and no cool down. just drive to the hwy and ran it.
