Default 13 seconds on stock 5.0 motor?

ok so i got a stock 5 speed 5.0 88 stang.

is it possible to run around a 13 1/4-mile time without thouching the engine?

just wondering how fast you can get a fox notch to go with just suspension and chasis stiffening.

and i dont wanna throw a buttload of power under the hood cuz my tranny will go kablooey.

maybe some suspension combos, and some times they should be good for?

hit me up with some replies yall

strip the interior, and powershift the **** out of it. Thats good for 12's i suppose. With a real good, and I mean really good suspension, you could get into the low 14s. There are the rumors of stock fox notch's dipping in the high 13's stock, not that I have ever seen it.

A Completly gutted notch 5 spd with drag suspension gears and slixks will run an easy low 13 high 12.

I read a review of some "go fast cheap" packages in MMFF about 12 years ago. One package consisted of a K&N panel filter, advanced timing, short belt, 3:73s and slicks (substitute DRs) that was good for low 13s. But you already have that advice. FWIW, I run BFG DRs on my '88 and they are highly streetable and hook well, but don't expect to get more than 7,000 miles from them.

Not sure your tranny could handle that either, BTW.

I've heard a lot of good things about Nitto's. They seem to hook pretty well at the strip and on the street, as well as being good in the rain and lasting a good 15K depending on how you treat them.

i see you have a notch, it should already be a low 14 sec car... i trap 101mph with nothing but CAI and full exhaust (shorty headers, catted h-pipe, cat-back), in a sub 3000lbs car that's an easy high 13 second... i personaly didn't do it though (went 14.17) because i have the suckiest all season 205/60/16 tires ever [&o] (best 60' was 2.24) ...get some good rubber on it and it's an easy 13.8...add gears and timing = mid 13

i posted on your other thread, but the t5 will handle low 13 passes all day, it's all about the launch......full slick + 5k....your gonna break an axle first, then the trans.

cheater slicks w/ a 3500 launch...your fine.

my '89 notch 5-speed went 13.20's all motor, just 4.10's et streets, long tubes and southsides. 12.52@109 same setup + 75 shot
