that would be pointless, if the stock engine only makes power to 4700, why rev it out.

i was in 2nd, the 86 was in 3rd.
here is why you won.

with my 3.73s i can still rap 2nd out to ~60mph. and believe me, i would have
its a balancing act. even after power starts dying off, you keep revving to keep you in the optimum powerband in the next gear. i shift ~5.5k-6k. a 40mph launch in 3rd is weak even with 3.73s

i had 3.55s and 40 was my sweet spot in 2nd. but i was far from stock...

and if you keep revving after you stop making power in a gear, you are not doing your cars health or your speed in that race any favors

you must have misunderstood. i meant that you should not shift at your peak hp rpm. you should shift a bit after, about 1k rpms. i think thats obvious though. you want to keep it up in the powerband

i understand what you guys mean. shifting higher gets you to the next gears powerband faster. but i have no desire to do that, mainly because my valvetrain has 106xxx miles on it. my car is faster than the 86, because even after his third gear wound out i was still pulling on him. i have 3.73s sitting in my garage, they need to be installed. i cant wait to get em on!

Whats so special about an 86? They had less HP then what you have? What gears do you have now 3:08's? Your car should run good with what you have. Now, beating the 06 thats pretty darn good, I have wanted to race an 06 for a while, they are quick.
