Default 89 LX convt 5.0 dead AC

So I've been hearing a bit about AC conversions and what not, is this required or recommended? the kits appear to be $700+ by themselves not including installation and charging. I've just spent $800 on water pump, 4 core radiator, thermostat, and hoses. I'd prefer to have working a/c being here in Florida but I'm not sure how to go about it. I love seeing all the detailed information specific to mustangs you guys have. I've been told it's probably just an o-ring of somesort on the compressor and a leak. The seller told me the ac would work for 3-4 weeks at a time if charged, although I haven't checked it myself.

Bring it to an ac shop and have them take a look and tell you what is wrong.

take it in, they can probably find the leak and recharge it for you for under $200,
as long as they find the leak it should stay charged for a good while.

Benifit of doing the covnersion is you can recharge it yourself whenever you want
but.......... R134 also doesnt blow as cold as the R12 you have now.

Have them install dye and it will show up where it's leaking. Forget the retro and use an r-12 substitute called Freeze 12 instead.

Is "freeze 12" something you can service yourself, like r134?

Yeah, you can get it off e-bay. Choose a kit for yourself
