just finished hooking everything back up on the engine but when i try to crank it over the selonoid on the firewall just clicks and there is a samll vibration on the starter likes its attempting to turn, but nothing. thought it could be dead battery so ive had the chatger on it all day but still nothing. think the selonoid is toast? also there is 1 wire i cnat figure out where it goes. its a skinny little white wire coming off the back of the alternator. any idea where this hooks up? the connector on it is the kind that slides on to a flat prong. i need to get this figured out. its been 11 months since i started the tear down and im dying to hear it fire!

Well, are you sure the battery took the charge? Do you have any way of verifying how much voltage it has. As far as the wire, it's attached to the back of the alt but just hanging unattached?

ya the white wire on the altenator is not conected to anything. i didnt mark that one when i took everything apart last year. as far as the starter itsef goes. i pulled it and manually tested it. its screwed. wont engage or spin. so im headed to the wreckers. what starters from other cars will work?
