89 would be perferred by most for a 5.0 liter car since it has mass air and tilt steering wheel the later 90-93 cars had an air bag and no tilt

ok, let's change this, what to look for to find the best car posible

the hatches tend to rust at the joint of the quarter panel
the core support changed in 1991, so if you have a pastic hood prop clip, it better be on a 1991-93
check the mounting locations for the rear control arms for cracks
check the seat mounting locations for cracks
when motor mounts colapse, the oil pan can hit the sway bar, check the distance between the 2

There are pros and cons of all year Mustangs, I prefeer the 86 since it is the last year of the 4 eye, and the first of the multi-port EFI

check the floors in the front... as well as torque boxes... and where the kframe meets up with the strut towers... all those places rust like a ****

oh.. rockers too... you dont want ones that look like mine when i took the front fenders off :

because it takes lots of welding to make that look like this:

damn, there is alot i gotta look for.. haha. but i guess its all worth it cause the car i will be getting is around 15 years old depending on the year. i guess i want atleast a 89 if that is the year that has the MAS in it. also, how much should i look into paying for one in decent shape with any miles?

look for rusted out floor pans ( you dont need to be fred flinstone in a stang!) also where the rear upper control arms connect the axle to the body the body rusts i have seen some dangling and completley rotted off. just my 2 cents

i would just look for rust

very unlikely to find a cheap fox body that dosnt need work. i got mine cheap and its got little no rust but it needs suspension upgrades badly...

yea, im starting to get real frustrated not having one yet... haha... its just a mustang disease i think.. already have 2 of them in the family and counting... now its time for a foxbody... and i have about 1700 saved up for one so far too... which should get me a decent one i hope.... i dont want to spend much over 2k if i have to... cause i want to do alot to the car once i buy it. its not going to be much of a street car. its going to be gutted and im throwing a cage in it... so im not going to be to picky on its looks i think...
