What gear do you drive in? I find it runs better in D than OD..Just wanted to know...

I would refrain keeping it being in OD unless you were specifically on the interstate or keeping sustained speed on a main road. Keep it in D otherwise...

Why wouldnt you use OD you get better gas mileage? Mine is always on I have to turn it off if I dont want it.

i only use OD when ive above 55 or 60 otherwise if you need to accelerate to avoid something yuo have to smash it all the way to the floor to ge the car to accelerate easily

On cars equipped with the traditionally controlled (non-electronically controlled) AOD theres a tendancy to burn up the Overdrive band among other things by continually using the OD mode. Usually on electornically controlled transmissions, this isnt an issue.

its not going to tear up the tranny by driving in od. sometimes i dont understand where people get there info from. the tranny is made to use overdrive. no one likes the aod so they come up with stories about them to make other people not like them. no im not a fan of them either but thats life

uhm, actually, yes, it will, more specifically it will prematurely destroy the weak overdrive band from switching into and out of overdrive. [sm=owned.gif]

no actually im not owned but im not here to argue.the tranny shifts by solenoids and pressure.if your trans is shifting into overdrive driving around town then you have other problems. if you are driving down the highway and its shifting in and out of overdrive on its own then you have other problems. i will say yes you are right that shifting inand out of overdrive wil cause premature wear but if your tranny is good then no it wont cause problems

save yourself the time and money and keep it in drive

i cruise at 2500 rpm's in 3rd and it dosnt use anymore gas than if it was in OD

i get 20 mpg in the city
