Ive got a friend who is going on his 4th new fuel pump in about 8 months. I don't know what makes then crap out for him... he has the chevy dealer and his personal mechanic do it so I would assume it was done right atleast once out of the 4 times.... Can anyone tell me what might be happening to make it go out?

Maybe some kinda of clog in the fuel system causeing it extra stress?

If not enough fuel is getting to the injectors does the computer make the pump work that much harder to get the pressure there?

Don't know how the computer is tied into the fuel pump. If there was some sort of blockage though and the pump was running normal it wouldn't be able to push the fuel through the lines as well and that would cause stress on it, kinda like a heart attack for your car.

get the fuel lines flushed or something or new fuel lines and a good filter....
