Can i put a 70mm TB on stock intake?
want to go ahead and upgrade TB and MAF before shelling out bucks on intake.

a STOCK intake can cause isses with either TB, you will need to blend the 2 together with a grinder. Wait on a TB until you have an intake that can handle it

I have a nice air grinder set. Is it that hard to just grind the lip off
into a half decent smoothed out curve?

No rbarn I didnt feel like messing with that. Because I was going to switch over to the Holly Intake shortly after anyway, which is what Im doing as we speak. But I didnt have any issues what so ever. Of couse it would be better to match the openings.

Before I put my TF intake on I had a 70mm TB on the stocker. I took the old TB off, smoothed out the lip on the stock intake, installed it and it worked just great. I'd definentally go with a 70mm, it helps out a lot especially when you swap over to a new intake manifold.

I would look on ebay...I got a used Mountaineer (Explorer) upper for $37 shipped and a true GT40 lower for $125 shipped.... Then you wouldn't have to upgrade later. W/ the stock intake, there's no reason to go w/ a bigger TB. The larger MAF will help you out, but the stock lower doesn't flow that well unless ported....then, of course, you still have the heads.

I wouldn't but the TB until the intake upgrade either. I think you'll see a bigger increase with an aftermarket intake and stock TB and MAF than the aftermarket TB and MAF and stock intake. So I'd hold off and try and get the intake first. Then I'd match the TB to the intake opening. Most of the Edelbrock stuff is 70mm TB openings and the Trick Flow and Holley are usually 75mm openings.
