Running a lil hot!!

Running a lil hot!!
i have an 88 coupe with a built 392 stroker in it, and i've had it for about a month and a half now. well the problem is after getting it out the shop and getting my temp gauge fixed it seems to stay at 250 all the time, but it never goes over it. i noticed today that it really doesn't take anytime at all for it warm up, so i'm thinking it might either be the thermostat or that the antifreeze might be watered down. i just ordered a 160 thermostat and i plan on doing a radiator flush and putting what i know for a fact will be the good stuff. do you think this will solve my problem?

Have you purged the air out of the cooling system? You can feel the upper radiator hose get hot after it warms up?
And how long is "it doesnt take very long to warm up" actually take?
I would try another gauge if possible.

don't know what all they did to it while it was in the shop. wasn't a known prob when i went it, of course it wasn't workin at the time. it wasn't even hooked up so i don't kow what the deal was. as far as the upper hose it doesn't feel all that hot, i mean its hot but not really hot. takes about 5 mins for it to warm up to 250

RE: Running a lil hot!!
I mean if your running the factory radiator then yeah that could be a big cause of it, but my guess is still a faulty guage. 250 is over the boiling point of regular water so the upper hose should be pretty dang warm.
Is the factory guage still hooked up? If so whats it saying?
I might just run it back by that shop and ask them to test it to see if its actually running 250.
