Default TICKING NOISE WHERE ENGINE/TRANS CONNECT PLEASE HELP

i posted yesterday thinking my block plate was hitting the flexplate because it may have gotten warped but today i bent it to where it wouldnt touch the flexplate and i still have this loud ticking noise comming from where the flexplate area is i pulled the motor to stop an oil leak and i left the trans in the car when i got it all back together and filled it with fluids it makes this loud ticking noise kinda like when you have no oil in the car but its comming from behind the motor i have good oil pressure so i know its not that im confused as to what it could be or what the flexplate could be hitting <thats what it sounds like to me > the flexplate i did notice white smoke comming from both sides of the engine but more from the passenger side it seems to have stopped but it had a funny smell like something burning in the kitchen if anyone has had a similar problem or has any ideas i would really appreciate it thanks

yeah it lined up easy and they seem to all have an even amount of the stud sticking out i used a good amount of thread locker as well and let it sit for a day and a half im starting to think maybe the flexplate is hitting the starter gear i might try to shim the starter the bottom bolt is really tight but with the lack of clearance for the top starter bolt i have to use a 1/4 drive ratchet and a flexible extension which doesnt get that bolt very tight that might be the problem thanks for your help though
