HOLLY COW!!!!! bumped timing/removed air silncr

RE: HOLLY COW!!!!! bumped timing/removed air silncr
its super super easy. I was scared to mess with it too but ..................
1: invest in $40 timing light.
2: on the main wiring going into distributor there is a small "jumper" plug with only 2 wires piggy backed on that same harness.
you'll see it when you look for it, pull the little jumper plug out ( with car off )
Now you're in base timing mode.
3: hook up timing light to battery and plug wire #1.
4: loosen the bolt at bottom of distributor.....
to reach it you will need 1/2" socket, couple of long extenions, swivle adaptor, and rachet wrench
5: you'll probably need to crawl under car and clean balancer to see marks.
little sand paper worked wonders for mine
6: now start engine and shine timing light down on balancer from passenger side
you should see it set somewhere close to 10 ( mine was at 8-9 )
7. now CAREFULLY twist the distributor and you will see it change, doesnt take much
and mine was stuck a little so just take it easy, not hard to move once you get it moving.
8. turn car off, tighten bolt back up, plug in the little jumper and you're done.
just make sure no pinging. couldnt believe the improvement.
supposedly you get about 3-4hp per degree of timing, so I picked up about 15+hp
not bad, and i can feel it in throttle response for sure.

In your hole where your air filter box was there is a brown silencer that pulls right out. You can reach it by reaching from underneath the front bumber into the sidewall.

RE: HOLLY COW!!!!! bumped timing/removed air silncr
if you remove the air box, you will see this plastic tube housing inside the fender well.
that the incoming air has to go thru.
take it out of there, have to fish it out thru bottom
held in by 3 bolts behind the air box.

yeah, but your jumper plug is in different location, think its over on fender well instead of right by distributor.
