Help me out on gears

Help me out on gears
On my LX notch I am looking to get some gears. Not because I need to lose even more traction, it is that my 2.73s are killing me. Gas wise it would help to. I plan on sniping some 3.55s, but what else do I need. Like a Ford Racing Trak-lok rebuild, or what? It would help because I really want to get this done soon.

If you are going w/ 3.55's you cant really go wrong. You could possibly go with a steeper gears but its not like your going to high. If you have a manual (which I am assuming) 3.55's are decent gears for street/strip car thats on the highway a decent amount of time. But you could go bigger though if you wanted with no problem.
When you have the gears installed, I would definetly look into Ford Racings Installation kit. I believe they make three different ones and the one that you would want cost around $90 dollars.
Also, rebuilding your Trac-Loc is definetly not a bad idea but it will cost you some dough. The FRPP Trac-Lok rebuild kit is only $40 dollars but when I called the shop they wanted an extra $200 dollars just to install that kit (not including gears or installation kit... just trac-lok kit).
So all together if you do the gears, trac-lok rebuild kit & gears installation kit:
Gears: $200
FRPP Installation Kit: $90
Trac-Lok Rebuild Kit: $40
Gear Installation: Est. $250
Trac-Lok Installation: Est. $200
Total: $780 plus new speedo gear (like $10 bucks) and also gear oil & friction modifier ($5)
You do not HAVE to rebuild the trac-lok but it isnt a bad idea to do it while your already in there tearing the rear apart. I am getting gears installed soon but I am NOT having mine rebuild just for the simple fact of the cost... but my trac-lok is fine... for now.
Good Luck!

3.55s are a good gear ratio. It really doesnt matter what you have done to the engine or any of that they will just help over the 2.73s.
If its an auto car I might think about some 3.73s, but your honestly not going to see a big difference between 3.55s and the 3.73s
