RE: My AOD is FU(KED!
get a A servo that they use 4 mustangs or muscle cars... not a c servo thats comes with most cars...and a shift kit.... and a manual valve bosy that makes that aod a stick.... and its better then a t 5... i have a A sevo, high energy clutches and band... and a gear ratio kit from ford racing.... freind builds trtannys on side and built it for 325 plus parts..... i dont think regular t 5s are way to go after you get a lotta torq..... my aod holds up tooo 400 hp i know for 3 yrs on old engine i had... make sure u have a good cooler nhot a lil one...and most aods fail becuz guys dont set linkage right...every inch a throtle linkage moves then ya kick down needs to move same...,...if not right fluids wont flow nad pump burns up...and doesnt take but a minute to do it..

to be honest...driving it causes that. stock aod's are just expensive boat anchors
manually shifting is better for an aod, if your keeping it out of od unless on the freeway
as far as the gearing...both are .068:1
as far as the aod stomping 5-speeds...not gonna happen. even with the low gearset , shift kit and 3000 converter, your just on par w/ a 5-speed.
as far as a nice rebuild lasting ??? i went through 3 aod's on my '90 GT i that bought brand new, it was never faster than 14.20's
if you want auto.....go lentech, a rebuild will be about $1800 , the converter is junk it can't be flushed..... od band and sunshell are toast guaranteed...
lentech or t5....or rebuild it again in a year...but it's your choice , i'm just giving my personal experience.
you need a 3000 stall, cooler, shift kit, "a" servo , redline clutches , and pack a couple extra's

it more often then not will just rev without moving and then start moving and doesn't want to shift into overdrive at all. What could have caused all this? I don't manually shift the car or do neutral drops.
