okay..... first thing's first.... make sure that you've got your tranny mount unbolted. also, make sure that there is nothing on the firewall or back of the motor that could be pinched or damaged. Check wires for tension as you lift it, and lift it until it hits the firewall.... Also, don't forget exhaust pipes.... might be a good idea to unbolt them or unbolt the headers at the flange.

No HAMMERS!!
You must raise the engine carefully, and take off all oilpan bolts. Then you MUST drop the oil pump in order to slide the pan out. Believe me, I did this 2 months ago and my abs took a beating!!
When you put the new pan on, you have to leave the pump inside the pan, then bolt it up with the pan dropped. To make it easier w/the distributor gear, use a rubber band. It makes life ALOT EASIER!!
Good Luck!

Why not pull engine? By the time you waste trying to twist turn and wrestle that pan out, you can pull the engine quicker, besides then you can get a good look at EVERYTHING on and in the engine, ya never know maybe your engine could use a fresh set of bearings, or rear main ect...

nah thats bad advice. it sounds like hes never done a oil pan reseal before so i wouldnt even mess with pulling the engine. then you'll have to worry about a bunch of other ****. harness, exhaust, trans, ect.
