thank god people like you exsist I love fixing cars
ORIGINAL: SpooledupRacing

I am curious what u guys think..

I was wanting to dump maybe 3-4 gallons of 110 leaded race gas in my tank (I currenlty have roughly 1/4 tank..

again my stats are:
87 5.0 5spd
summit H pipes and summit duel exhaust with imco mufflers (no converters)
K&N drop in filter
ford racing 9mm wires
summit 40k volt coil
ngk G-power plugs
still running both oxygen sensors

just curious what u guys think.. should I run a can of NOS octane booster only or would it be ok for me to put 3-4 gallon of 110 race gas in my tank..

what will be the pros and cons of doing so?

I heard if I have no cats (which I dont) that I will be ok, but I have also heard that if u have o2's u can burn them out also

I always run 93 octane (premium) I do it in all my cars and it dont and wont ruin anything...

as for the leaded I was told it is good to use.. and besides if its not good to use how come so many people use it and have no problems, and why is it all the race cars use them even if they are only 13's cars..

race gas is not for 10 second cars only!

btw I was an ASE mechanic AND I am now a parts guy.... peopel like u and people like who I was NEVER get a dime from me.. I do my own ****!!

dave... leaded gas would make ur car take a crap on itself

any car with emission stuff intact is not meant to run on leaded gas

and the 5.0 runs perfect on 87 octane, u been wasting ur money on premium

running race gas in that mild of a car would be pretty pointless. you dont have high compression, which is the main reason most "race cars" run it. i doubt you would see any performance gain from it and more than likely a performance loss.

so no to leaded gas then.. however I will still stick with premium...

I mean I am sure I can use regular, however with a supercharger I will deffinatly run premium

maybe I will switch back and maybe I wont.. only time will tell.. as of now both my scirocco and my diamante take premium, having all 3 currently on premium does suck however when u put it into thought u are only spending roughly 2.00 more per tank to use premium gas
