RE: 110 octane leaded race gas
actually premium fuel burns cleaner then regular, and leaves less deposits on your valves... so there are pros to using higher octane fuel...
besides 2.00-3.00 more a tank is not that bad!

Try running 3 oz of pure Acetone per gallon of 93 octane...You will see an increase in MPG and might notice a little bump in performance too. My friend's dad does it in all his cars and says the difference is noticeable.

I guess you'll just have to take my word for it, lol. It's not like I don't trust the guy, I've known him for years. I'll do an experiment of my own and let you know how it goes. And it's not that expensive...It's like 6 bucks a tank. There should be enough of an offset to justify it.

If you want a better idea of octane and how it affects your engine read this,

Octane does NOT increase performance. Octane generally reduces performance unless it is needed. Octane is an additive that actually makes gasoline RESIST burning. The reason you need it with advanced timing, forced induction, and nitrous because the combustion temps are higher, which makes it much easier for fuel to detonate before the proper time, which is the #1 killer of forced induction engines.
If youre running premium in a relatively stock N/A car, youre wasting money, but if youve gone and advanced the timing, and done some other things, it may pose useful, but no power gains.
