Default Installing headers

About how long does it take for a moron to install BBK unequal shorties? Car has 83k miles on it and it's a 93.

Would you do this if you've had a recent running hot problem? My header gaskets and bolts finally came in and i kinda want to do it tonight.

Couple hours. It's pretty easy, just make sure to let the motor cool down and if you want go ahead and wrap your headers to help keep em cool. When you first start the car it may smoke a bit if the headers are coated. Then stop the car, tighten the headers again, start, stop and tighten one last time. That should be adequate. Just check them in a week if you're a neat freak like me.

Well, I shelled out $40 extra for Stage 8 locking header bolts. I hope they're long enough... they're only 3/8" in full (counting the head) but they look good. They're supposed to never come back out until you want them out.

Thanks for the quick answer. Any other tips?

If you're doing this on a lift, it'll be easy. If on the ground, make sure you have some extensions and watch out for your dipstick.

By the way, should should I expect to unbolt besides my CAI to get clearance? I don't have to drain the radiator or anything do i?

*EDIT* No lift, it's on dirt so I don't even have jack stands tonight. Should I wait until I can put it on jacks?

Also, how long of extensions? Just basic 2" are fine right? And torque specs would help also

Take your spark plugs out and negative on the radiator.

make sure to bolt the collector flange first not too tight though just get them started and then line it up and bolt the top, then go back and tighten the flange.

There's a negative ground on the radiator?

I would wait untill you can get under the car it will make it easier I have the same headers on my 94 and to get the stock ones out you may have to wigglethem out a little but the new ones slip in a lot smoother.
