Default Clutch smell?

Just wondering, is there a smell associated with a clutch that is going bad? I have been having problems with clutch chatter, and it being difficult to get into gear. Recently, I have been increasingly noticing a strong smell coming from the car, that I don't recognize. It shows up after I have done a lot of stop and go driving, and had a lot of clutch chatter on take-offs. Any thoughts on this. Thanks folks.

Incidentally, I plan on changing the clutch within the next week.

Thanks Pro. That's the strange thing--the clutch is not slipping. It just chatters and shakes the whole car on takeoffs, and does not seem to be disengaging all the way. But it is a very strange smell!

That must've been someone else. I have a feeling mine is the original clutch from the factory.

Gotcha! If it's chattering badly, the slipping won't be too far behind.

It does almost burn my nose. Incidentally, you guys may think its funny, but I'm gonna replace the clutch with an OEM number. The original lasted almost 110k miles, and isn't too hard on the leg muscles.

Thanks for the info, Pro. Hopefully I'll have it swapped out before it gets to slippin'.
