Ok Ive been on the net all day trying to find out about this retainer.Anyways I just bought an 86 mustang gt 5 speed and while I was bringing it home the car just died out of nowhere there was a strong oder of gas and when I crawled underneath the fuel line coupling on the hose going to the fuel rail came apart I snapped it back together and drove it home.I got on the net and saw that in 86 and 87 ford had a recall on all there vehicles with this spring lock coupling.To fix it they added a safety retainer on the coupling to keep it from coming apart.A mechanic I know said all the ford vehicles hes worked on with this style coupling has had the safety retainer.Well mine dont and where the f@#k can you buy these I called ford and there obselete and they said there a real common aftermarket part well I called oreilly,napa,autozone nobody knows what Im talking about.I have been on the net all day and I am frustrated can someone please tell me where you can find these retainers.

Not sure but most all ford cars used this style fuel line/rail, trucks also. go to a wrecking yard and get some. worst case

if its a recall, just take it to ford, theyll do it for free.

Yeah I called ford about the recall and they said being the cars 20 years old and the parts are obselete that theres nothing they can do.I didnt know all fords had this setup Ill hit some junk yards after work.Thanks,Kevin.
