Which Would You Worry About First? Looks or Power?

RE: Which Would You Worry About First? Looks or Power?
It depends on how bad the car looks. And I am doing a little bit of both. I spend about $400 every other week on the car and on the first paycheck it will go to power and the second will go to looks.

It also depends on how the car runs. If it runs like crap and you make it look like a show car, that may be a bit embarassing on the road when you go to hit the gas and it does nothing. LOL, I had that happen with my first car - a 1982 Camaro RS. I put chrome wheels and new tires on it, and it already had a new paint job before I bought it. Damn did it look sweet; it didn't run for sh*t though!

RE: Which Would You Worry About First? Looks or Power?
I understand what everyone is saying and I agree. I meant for this to be a more general question. For example, I bought a basically stock 88 stang. It runs fine, and looks decent for an 18 year old car. But it is stock and does have some scratches, dings, and surface rust on the hatch under the spoiler. So my question is really, which would you do first, get the thing looking like a show car that can run whatever a stock 88 GT would run stock, or leave the looks alone and go for a super fast street car? I figure everyone will have a different opinion and was just curios to see what the consensus was. This is what my ride looks like right now:

(And yes, I do have the centercaps, I just had them off at the time because I was getting new tires put on.)

I agree with most of the responses...it does depend on how bad the car looks to begin with...On my 5.0 i really spent most of my money up front on handling/braking, so when it came time to add the power I had the car setup to handle it, and then I went to fine tuning the outside (paint/wheels/lights) etc....

regardless of the condition of the car. If the car is not rusted out and is solid it all goes down to the person. For Example. Some peole buy a v6 stang put a cobra symbol on it and big crome rims etc... But under the hood they got a stock 6er...

I say better to go fast than to just look fast..... my car looks like sh*t but i dont mind .... all i see is the hood, the gauges and the steering wheel. id rather run 12's and look like crap doing it than run 15's and have a pretty car.
