I have a 1991 lx convertible and I am having problems with the convertible top frame. I know someone with a 90 lx convertible who is willing to swap convertible frames, but I'm not sure if the frame from the 90 convertible will work with my 91. I did some research but I can't really figure it out. Does anyone know anything about this? Also, if anyone knows anywhere where I can find frame pieces or the entire frame please let me know. Thanks!

A ford book I read says that there was change to the convertible top frame somewhere between 87-93 that made the top sit 2 inches lower

I would call 5.0 Resto or Blue oval and ask them

Also, the bolts that hold the conv frame to the body are slotted so that can help with alignment issues

There are rivets that hold the top frame pieces together. These can be drilled out so the various pieces can be removed. To reinstall, use a grade 5 SAE bolt in place of the rivit and secure with a nylock nut.

My top broke and bent itself, so I had to do this.

ur 91 has the redisigned top frame the 90 has the old style that sits high i dont know for sure but u could remove it and make sure the mounting hole are the same other than that i dont see a problem
