Strange Mileage Issue

Alright this is a problem not with the odometer but the smaller, resettable mileage meter (maybe this is technically the odometer), but anyway; we recently bought the car and drove it around the county for about an hour maybe. We never hit over 80m/h, and when we got back, that little mileage meter read 270 miles more than when we left an hour before. I'm pretty sure this is mathematically impossible even if they were reading kilometers instead of miles, so what's the deal here?

Nevermind, I was reading the 1/10th mile dial as a whole mile. Wowowowowowowow delete this I'm an idiot.

So you're saying you only did 27 miles in the hour long trip? And at times you were close to 80 mph? What were you doing for 45 minutes?
