Default Broken clutch release lever

So I brought my car in today to have the clutch replaced, and they discovered (upon reassembly, supposedly) that I had a broken release lever. Does the release lever do what its name implies? Then this would explain why my tranny was sometimes hard to shift, right? I'm glad they found it, but it sucks because now I have to wait until tomorrow or Monday to get the car back.

Default RE: Broken release lever

Not sure if thats the same as the fork or not but if it is then yes that would cause hard shifts.
