People do the bypass all the time on older chevys. What it's supposed to do from what I can gather is help the engine warm up quicker by circulating the coolant through the hot maifold, doesn't really need cooling much. Never heard anything bad about it plus you should be able to pick up a litte. When i can find the right fittings I was planning on doing it.

Your motor might knock at cruising speeds, like up a hill, ect... because of the hot EGR gas. I'd just leave it.

Your motor still won't run right, because the computer expects to see the richness of the EGR gas, and leans the motor out when the EGR is activated.

I have a 88 gt with maf conversion and my cr runs rich and lean. lean at idle and rich at wot. I have the egr coolant lines bypassed but the vaccum is still connected. Would this have anything to do with the rich/lean problem? If so should i just reconnect the coolant lines? thnx
