Default newbie on forum with questions

Sorry I havent posted before to introduce myself so I will do it in the form of my questions. First of all my name is Jim and I live in Kansas City Kansas. I recently purchased an 89 lx covertible with 47000 original miles. It has a BBk offroad h pipe, flowmaster mufflers with ss 2 1/2 pipes, and a k&n cold air intake without the silencer.
I still have the factory headers and was thinking of aftermarket headers. I also want to install gt40 heads and a supercharger. Being married with 3 kids and 3 dogs including an Olde English Bulldogge I am on a fairly tight budget, I do plan on selling my Harley to fund my project. My question is what Kind of money and performance gains am I looking at and are there other things I should or could do to keep me at around 350 to 400hp? I realy am not ready to spend much moer than 5 grand right now so I dont want to go too deep in my motor. Pictures will be posted as soon as I can figure out to resize them..any help with this problem would be appreciated as well.

first i'd like to say welcome to the forums, and its nice to see another kansas city guy on here.

5 grand should be enough to do what you want to. you can find gt40 heads on ebay for resonable prices, or if you want to, you can probably get some out at pick and pull at 435 and truman road. they'll be on explorers or mountaineers.

headers are pretty inexpensive, and all the popular brands are pretty good quality. bbk, mac, hooker, all make good products.

the super charger will be the more expensive part. procharger had a ad where they put one of their kits on a bone stock 5.0 and it gained nearly 100 hp. and that was with the stock e7 heads. the down side to supercharging is the price, a nice procharger kit is like 3 grand alone.

you got $5,000 to spend?

www.hellionpowersystems.com

turbo kit cost $5,000 and includes EVERYTHING, exhaust headers
mid-pipes with cat, injectors, fuel pump, MAF, turbo, intercooler ....... EVERYTHING!

will make 400+rwhp with bone stock engine at 10psi.

add some www.thumperoforangepark.com ported heads and 1.7 rocker arms and GT-40 intake
on stock cam and make 450-470rwph for another $1,000-$1,400 in cost

If you have $5,000 and want 400hp at the wheels, slap one of
these on a stock motor and you're done.
Will cost few hundred dollars to get dyno tuned too.
Install is supposedly easy to do and is a very good kit.

Check it out.........

lol, No, but **** why mess with dropping $2,500 on H/C/I and another $3,000 on s/c
when you can get a turbo and be done.

supercharge it... buy used intake/headers/heads/cam... ebay with some patence and then throw a vortech s trim on her and she'll be running 400 horse.... of course there are extras involved as you do these such as dyno, chip, maf conversion, heads, injectors, etc.. depends how far you want to take it and if you can do the labor... good luck and welcome to the forums
