um. first. a posi unit is for a chevy rear end. a trac lock is the same thing, but its a ford.

you can tell if you have a trac lock by taking off the cover on the rear end and looking inside of the carrier

$530 is kinda steep.. so for just the trac-loc rebuild kit and the install was only $125? why did it cost $405 to get the gears installed? im confused lol.

labor + gear price. probably 2 hours at 100 an hour, then the gears were about 130 bucks..

so thats 3 right there.

plus an hour for the diff rebuild. and parts for that


about 500.

daaamn $75/hr id rather just do it myself. does n e one kno if this will be that difficult? cuz im pretty good at fixing things plus my father was a forman at a body shop for 14 years. and whats this master install kit?

it was 75.00 an hr for ma and it only took 2 hrs to do my gears which is 150.00. if i could even do it myself it woulda took more like 8 hrs to figure it all out and scraped knuckles and hassles. no thank you ill pay the man his money.

ya i get it thats still steep geeze. id like to do it myself tho. i love workin on cars. what is the master install kit?

master install kit is the shims and spacers and all you will need for installing the gears

gears are easy. rebuilding a trac lock unit isnt too bad its just time consuming.
