i would like to get a D.S.S. motor my self, but i just bought a used short block. they're a great company and even better, they're like 20 mins away from the house. it seems like they really have a handle on their business IMO

Not a bad deal....I like the crank and the forged rods...very good price for the parts.

They have got to be skimping on something else. It didn't mention Bearing or ring brand huh? They might be throwin in some ghetto parts to make it sound good otherwise.

I still wouldn't discount it just yet.

I've been lookin at these guys as well....you can basically "build" your kit with what you want.

Check it out:

They also got alot of other kits too (331/393/etc...)

Enjoy Bro,
Ivan

I believe in some of their ebay ads they say that they build NACSAR motors...this is a true statement. A friend of mine had his hands in one that they built.

As for forged vs cast, it all depends on what you plan to do with the motor. If your not going to be putting any power adders (nitrous, blower, turbo) then i would go with the cast pieces, they are good for 400 - 500 hp. Not to mention that cast is LIGHTER than forged. From the reading that i have done, the stock block is only good for 500 or so hp anyway, so if you plan on going with a power adder, stop right now and buy a good aftermarket block, then go and buy all the forged internals.

My current set up is a 347 with all forged internals in a stock block.....Technically, i should be pushing around 400 hp..... now i would just LOVE to throw a 150 shot of nitrous on it, but i just don't trust the block to take it.......

thats pretty much whats in my short block. except i have all forged and h beam rods. if it were me though, i'd be looking for srp forged pistons. pistons are definatly one thing you dont want to skip on.

what are you going to be doing with the engine? N/A high compression? nitrous? blower? gotta figure all of that into the build. if you're just going the N/A route, then all the cast stuff will be good.

if you want a power adder i would definatly be looking for forged parts.

the price seems right for that kit though

BTW-Where are your new pics? I know that you're working on that thing. Did you ever get those parts you were missing??

This is the same company that you bought your SB from right?? Faster5.0
