Default Long tube headers or short??

Whats everyone preference on headers? I bought long tubes and am rethinking it since they say they drag and not as loud or throaty as shorties.

How much HP difference between the two...........??

no idea, I can't seem to find anyone that can tell me the diff between stock, and 2.5" collector shorties and the entire exhaust system to match. plenty of threads with people saying shorties aren't worth getting and arguing about that, but so far no one responding specifically to figuring in collector size and the rest of the exhaust system diameter.

Shorties are really great and make the car sound good. We went to longs becuase I wanted it to be easier to swap pipes and my dad likes the looks of them. Either one is good. Longs are a bigger pita to put in but I think they are worth it. You loose a little bit of the rumble at idle but they sound awesome where you open the car up. Today when I was driving I was giong slow in third gear and I matted it and it came up slow but them took off (slow in about 3K rpm then took off at 3500). If I had a choice of which ones I could get (with unlimited budget) I would go with the longs.

I have had a hard time finding an H or X pipe for them since they say they will only fit specific brands unlike shorties.

That has been my only bones about putting them on yet..........

You can get everything you need from Jegs or Summit depending on the brand that you get. I bought an off-road pipe from Jegs (when I ordered the headers) and then serached for a catted one to pass inspection (only need them for visual so I wasnt going to spend $400 for a new one) and I found one on ebay.

I'd go with shorties. Not enough difference for the pain/trouble of Longtubes. Longtubes were really made to pull more heat away from the block and such. You'll be kicking yourself in the *** everytime you have to work on it with longtubes. Like changing spark plugs [:@]
