No pinging wtf???
I set my timing at 15 degrees a few weeks ago and I'm running 87 octane. It's not pinging and I've been driving it in 90+ degree weather, what's up with that??? Do you think that my knock sensors are kicking in and adding more fuel preventing it from pinging??? Do you guys think that I should try running 93 octane and see if I can get a little bit more performance out of it and possibly better gas mileage??? Man I'm being a post ***** tonight...

yup, the 5.0s have knock sensors that will generally take care of the pinging for you by adding more fuel, i'm going to run 93 octane and 16 degrees at the track just for the hell of it.

what does pinging sound like in the first place? cuz my car started makin like a slight piston firing noise when i push the gas pedel.. could it just be a ****ty batch of S&S gas?
