Default So I'm the only one...

...that sometimes gets locked out of first gear? I asked this question a while ago, but got few replies. Every so ofter, I'll go to put it into first, and it won't go all the way in. It feels like shift dogs not lining up or something. Then, I let out the clutch, press it back in, and it falls right into gear like butter. Anyone else get this?

It just occured to me: Do car gears even have engagement dogs on them?

Thanks for the reply. My clutch cable operates smoothly, and I just got a new clutch...which operates perfectly. The clutch swap had no effect on this problem.

By the way, I have no adjuster on my clutch cable. The stock auto-adjust feature seems to work well.

Incidentally, the GT is the second car I've had this problem on. I had an Integra GSR that did the same thing, and I bought that car brand new. On both cars, it only started happening after changing the tranny fluid. On the GT, I changed my fluid and then noticed that it did this. Then, over time it seemed to loosen up. Then, I just changed my tranny fluid again (during clutch swap), and now it feels tight again going into first sometimes. Strange.

My car does the same exact thing if I try to go right into first. Usually when I first get in the car and go I'll put it in second then it'll slide right into first gear....freakin weird.[&:]

i believe it is a problem with the syncros as they get older, the t5's in s10's do it as well.

Thanks for the replies. No, I'm just running whatever type of ATF is recommended.
