how do you remove wiper arms?

Are these the fold the cap back and bolt on variety of wiper arms or something else? I need to remove the wiper arms and cowl vent on my 85 to put my strut brace on. The other night I couldn't seem to fold the "cap" at the base of the arm over like i'm used to on toyotas and bmw's.

On my 87 you just raise the arm up and by the base there is a little slide that pulls out to the side and lower the arm. This little slide holds the sring pressure and then you just pull straight off.

this is the same for your 4 eye...as for the strut tower brace, the ones that mount there will tear your firewall. go to www.maximummotorsports.com and look at theirs, much stronger and it will not tear the firewall

Tear the firewall huh? That wouldn't be good. I've heard of the maximum motorsports stuff, I have the ford brace. I've never heard of tearing the firewall, but then i've been out of the fox chassis thing for about 12-13 years. This car is going to get a total repaint in the next year or two. If it tears the firewall (or maybe sooner) i'll beef up the area before painting the engine compartment.

Just get some 16gauge sheet metal and cut a piece out and drill holes though it for the bolts and make a backing plate so it spreads the force out on the thin firewall more...get what im saying? Ive heard of them tearing the firewall also.
