RE: Should I just get an LS1?
well i guess all i can say is if the carb doesnt fix it than you should get an ls1 to answer your original post. Because if it were me and i sunk 15k into a car that ran a 14.4 and i was as unhappy as you are i would deffinetly get rid of it so i didnt have to look at what i sank all that dough into.[:'(]

as long as you know that you dont have any vac leaks or anything i would definatly say you sould be running better than that, and yeah people do lie consistantly about there cars its jsut part of having one i guess i duno. as long as you know how ot drive the car and if you would get some deecent sticky tires i think you will be running much more accceptable times

See, ET means NOTHING TO ME at this point. I al looking 100% at trap speed, after my traps are up, then I can concentrate on a good ET, but right now my trap speed is telling me THERE IS A PROBLEM.

In response to above quote, the trans am is the only thing I ever drove that actually got girls to come up and approach me, give wild applause in traffic, etc. Sure, my 5.0 gets stares, but the TA actually pulled them, lol I could park it by the curb and mow my lawn and would have a phone # before I finished (30 minutes). The car was sex on wheels and I have yet to find someone who thought otherwise.

RE: Should I just get an LS1?
with 255 hp isn't much....what allitude are you running at? in race conditions a DP will do better than a vacuum sec. carb...not for a street driven car the vacuum sec is better for fuel mileage and low -mid range hp.........another problem is carb need alot adjustment to tailor to your car.....demon carb are good stuff and a 625 would work good and adding a stub stack or have the horn milled will help with flow
changing springs and the cam on the throttle shaft can help also...what cam is in engine?..was it degree'd in?

I will post up some dyno #'s taken with a 575 that show it pulling hard up to 6K rpm on a 255 whp 5.0
Why should I check my valve springs? They are fine.
Barry Grant also recommended the 575 BG to me and I have seen them doing very well on mild 302's like mine at the strip. The reason I got the 670 SA was due to my former mechanic, he swore up and down that it needed a vac secondary carb...yes, I wanted the 575 BG from teh beginning, but he was having none of that and im 20 so what do i know? Lol, looks like im out $375 - what I get for the 670SA.

I have Pt 3 of this article in the latest MMFF magazine and the 575 made more 12 whp than the 650 Demon and while it tied with the 750 demon, it bested the 750 in tq. This is putting 310 to the ground (PT3). at almos 6500rpm. I think my 575 will suffice...

A/F check on the dyno is in order. Many forget that you have to get the A/F right on a Carb setup also.
Carbs are sized by the max airflow but remember, the jets are what you use to get the correct A/F
