Water Leak - Driver side - Near the firewall
Its been awhile since I've posted. I've been busy with my F150 that my stang has sat with a cover for months.
I took the cover off and the car is filled with mold and soaked on the floor.
I've ripped it all out and addressed the major leak (around the moonroof) but I still have water coming in under the dash. I am assuming it is coming through the firewall at the grommets. I notice the leak when I run water in the grate by the wipers.
It looks as though the water is draining from there, running into the engine comparment and then through the firewall following the cables.
Is there something I can use to seal these and should it be done from the inside of the car or the engine compartment.
Once I get the leaks fixed I'll start putting the interior back together.
Good reason for new seats.
Thanks for any ideas or help.
Jim.

Depending on the year of your car, I bet you have a hole in the cowl. On a foxbody, thats the grill lookin thing where the wipers are. I think 6 phillips screws hold it on there. Remove it and look down in there, I bet there will be a hole.

PS: Make sure with the sunroof to blow out the drain holes, water will pool up there and rot out your roof.

inside the grate on the hood there is a drain hole for rain water to be drained, i bet the hole is plugged and is forceing itself out via the firewall.

Yea the drain hole in the grate leads into the engine comparment where it drains. Looks like by design. Should it lead into the engine compartment? I'm going to seal that and test to see if the water still drains.
I checked the sunroof and that is good now.
Any ideas on what to seal the grommet with?

RE: Water Leak - Driver side - Near the firewall
Well after testing, sealing, testing, sealing, crawling under the dash with a flashlight while the wife pours water in the cowl I havent been able to seal it completely.
I took some flashing I had and quickly fabricated a channel to funnel water away from the firewall and let it drain further away. That helped but it looks bad. Now I've got to come up with a way to make this channel look good and still function.
