hahaha i hope you're kidding....it's not easy or cheap to get in the tens (or near for that matter) w/ a street car. how much money are you willing/able to spend? fast, cheap, reliable....pick two too many people reading magazines these days

RE: Max Horsepower
Jez, relax guys, lol. I am kidding, but you can do it for cheap if you try. This car is only selling for 6k, and im almost positive i can talk him down to 5k. The engine alone is worth that much not to mention that the entire car has been rebuilt. The only think it is lacking is a paintjob. High tens now, high nines when i am through, although that will cost some serious coin to get it that far, with the dart block ill have to buy and all. Maybe some year, lol. Until then 10 seconds for 5 grand will do.
BTW, fast, yes, cheap, yes, reliable............we shall see. It has good parts and with a few more it will be golden.

RE: Max Horsepower
I have several friends with stock shortblocks running 10s w/ nitrous. One of my closest friends had AFR 185s, e cam, dremeled pistons, Pro Products intake running pretty consistent 10.80s with a stock T5 on a 175 shot. There probably isn't anything done to the shortblock on the car you're looking at. It's probably just a light car.
If you've never driven a car that fast, good luck. 12s to 10s is night and day difference. How quick have you gone before?

RE: Max Horsepower
It's pretty pathetic, but maybe mid 14's. That is why i either want to get a motorcycle or this car. I havent decided yet. The cycle would get 40 miles to a gallon, but i really like this stang though. This car im looking at has all this done to it: Here is what's done; engine is a 302 .040 over with forged JE pistons and child&elbert steel rings, all ARP studs and bolts,VICTOR JR. aluminum heads in:2.05 ex:1.60 60cc chamber and victor 5.0 intake. It's 9.7:1 engien, but becouse it's not too high compreshion you can use 91 octaine minimum,I use 93 for town driving.Runs great and does not ping.80mm trhottel body,30lb injectors,SFI Romac harmonic balancer, airmotive fpr+guage, ford motorsport water pump and high value oil pump, high temp radiator hoses, ford motorsport valve covers,BIG Z-303 cam "camzilla" ford name for it,.552 lift,1.6 scorpion roker arms, double roler adjustable timing chain, diled in!,not just slaped in. Lakewood lift bars and upper BBK boxed in control arms.90/10 front and 50/50 rear lakewood shoks,255lb wallboro fuel pump,MSD 6AL ignition,373 rear end gears with Eaton positraction LSD and 32 spline heavy duty Superior axles, rebuilt T-5,zoom stage 3 cluch, new oem brakes last summer,BBK fully adjustable cast camber strut.
I was worried because the guy cant even spell right, but he had someone else build the engine, so its all good. I called him and he know his cars pretty good though.

One quick question though. The guy he bought the engine from said to change the oild like every thousand mles. Is that necessary? He said he was changing it like every 5 or 600 miles because he hasnt been driving it that much. Why would you need to change your oil that much?

RE: Max Horsepower
I change the oil in my Mustang every 1000 miles, but I don't necessarily think that motor would need it. I'd go 3k and not worry about it.
The shortblock may be able to take 7300rpm. It does have a good balancer on it (allegedly). It was probably balanced and has ARP bolts in it (allegedly). But unless is has link bar lifters, I doubt it will go that high without lifter failure. On the other hand, a 6k rev limiter is probably a little low for that cam. He may be wanting to limit it because he's pushing the limits on the block.
