Default header fitment 85 LX

I bought a set of MAC l/t's and they will not clear the steering shaft. I went and bough a flaming river peice for more clearance and that still didnt do it. WHAT BRAND L/T's do you people have or your foxes. any clearence issues with the starter or the shaft. This has really discouraged me from continuing my project!

Nope I got solid mounts from Holcomb Motorsports. Im thinking the guy sold me the wrong pair. It said for a 302 but it didnt say for a mustang. Only paid 150 for the l/ts. I wasnt having any other trouble other than the steering shaft. the headers just dont look like they have enough room. I need a set that has either a wide gap or they go over the top of the shaft. any ideas

Mac headers have the steering shaft go through them. BBK do not. If you put the shaft through the headers then changes are the headers are made wrong.

Thats the way they go. Does BBK out perform the MAC's. IF so I will just buy a nice set of BBK's. I have them on my 03 but the 5.0s respond different compared to the 4.6.

I dont know what the performance numbers on each of them are but The BBKs are easier to install and they tuck up under the car better.

Well It all depends on what you want. Do you want chrome or ceramic?, 1 5/8" or 1 3/4"?, long or short.

The best thing to do is go Jegs and look at the BBKs They dont carry Macs but if you wan to get new ones Id suggest getting them from a place like Jegs or Summit because its a lot cheaper to ship them.

We bought the BBK ceramic 1 5/8" LT and we love them.

For a price on Macs you'll have to go to a Mustang Outlet or a Mac store.
