RE: Automatic tranny bumped in Reverse @ 70mph!!!!
Guys I have been renting cars for years..................apparently they have done something to prevent damage from doing this. Do you know how many times I have had a rental in reverse going 30MPH or above in forward? Lets just say more than once..........I did have a clunking sound once but the rental place did not say anything...................There must be something electronic and internal that protects them.

Never done reverse, but sure did in park.... click click click... You would think you would have to depress the brake to allow someone to jam it in reverse anything past 5mph...

ya thats how they say to shift it with autos.. be on the brake then shift it but theres nothing stopping it... only AFTER it happens does something kick in to stop it haha

my friend did it to his gf one time to **** her off. we were driving down the road about 40mph and they started arguing and the next thing i know he grabs the shifter and throws it in reverse. all i hear in the back is grinding noises........car was fine though until she decided to sell it a year later but i feel sorry for the person that got it cause the day before they nuetral dropped the pi$$ out of it.
btw it was a buick skylark

my car wont even go into park or reverse...without pushing the button in. you can slide it through the gears but it locks b4 hitting reverse or park. isnt this standard on our mustangs?
